Hello, my name is Michael Doney. I grew up in rural Pennsylvania in the small town of Waynesburg where my family's entrepreneurial spirit started several successful businesses including car dealerships, mobile home parks, mini-storage facilities, car washes, and laundromats. Growing up in this environment taught me at an early age several lessons about successful small business planning, marketing, financing, and proper community engagement. While attending college at West Virginia University studying Computer Science, I continued to work at one of my family's auto dealerships and interned at General Electric. After college graduation, I moved to Charlotte in 1999 to work for IBM where I wrote several software automation programs and experienced Corporate America at its finest. While working at IBM, I started investing in Charlotte's urban real estate market which consumed most of my personal life...and I loved every minute of it. My passion became my career in late 2004 when I made the decision to leave IBM and start full-time in real estate. I am highly involved in the community that I work in and the thing I love most about my career is the positive change that can come to an area all because the real estate evolves from what it was to what it can be to what it is today.
